KEF supports application-oriented research projects of Austrian scientists in cooperation with partners in developing countries, which serve the scientific preparation of larger project applications in national and international sponsoring institutions or scientific components of developing projects.

The project proposals are checked for their development-political relevance and sustainability, according to the following criteria:

1. Scientific quality
2. Development-political relevance
3. Sustainability

Since January 1, 2009 KEF is hosted by the OeAD (Österreichische Austauschdienst)- Gesellschaft mit beschränkter Haftung -
Austrian Agency for International Cooperation in Education and Research (OeAD-GmbH).

Deadline

In order to enable a scientific assessment prior to the next conference of the board, it is recommended to hand in all the necessary documents to the secretary's office of KEF at least 10 weeks ahead of the next board meeting.

In case this deadline is not met, it is very unlikely that the project proposal can be considered in the respective board meeting.
